Completing Story Class-8: An Ambitious Crow and His Sad End: Once upon time, a crow became very sad while thinking of his ugly colour. He always thought of becoming beautiful. But he could not find out any way to be beautiful. He always sought chance and means to become beautiful. One day he got a chance.
While walking through a jungle he found some feathers of a peacock. He took the opportunity of using the feathers of the peacock to fulfill his goal. Instantly he hit upon a plan. Soon he began to pick the feathers one by one. stuck them among his own feathers.
After using all the feathers, the crow now looked at his own body. He was very delighted to see his own beauty. He looked like a beautiful peacock. He began to dance and sing. He decided that he would no longer live with the ugly crows. He thought that he should live with the peacocks. But ‘black will take no other hue’.
Though the crow’s body turned nice, his behaviour did not change. He was not able to keep pace with the peacocks. Soon the peacocks found out that he was just a crow in the guise of a peacock. Then all the peacocks of the jungle assembled and attacked the false peacock.
They pulled all the feathers out and drove the crow away. The crow was punished enough for his pride. He became helpless. Finding no other way, he returned to the crows. Unfortunately, the crows did not accept him. They also left him. At last the crow realized his fault. Finally he thought himself, ‘Over ambition and pride are not good.

একবার একটা কাক তার কুৎসিত রঙের কথা ভেবে খুব দুঃখ পেল। তিনি সবসময় সুন্দর হওয়ার কথা ভাবতেন। কিন্তু সুন্দর হওয়ার কোনো উপায় খুঁজে পাননি তিনি।
তিনি সর্বদা সুন্দর হওয়ার সুযোগ এবং উপায় খুঁজতেন। একদিন সুযোগ পেলেন। একটি জঙ্গলের মধ্যে দিয়ে হাঁটার সময় তিনি একটি ময়ূরের কিছু পালক দেখতে পান। তিনি তার লক্ষ্য পূরণের জন্য ময়ূরের পালক ব্যবহারের সুযোগ নিয়েছিলেন।
সঙ্গে সঙ্গে তিনি একটি পরিকল্পনায় আঘাত করেন। শীঘ্রই সে এক এক করে পালক তুলতে লাগল। তার নিজের পালকের মধ্যে তাদের আটকে. সব পালক ব্যবহার করার পর কাক এবার নিজের শরীরের দিকে তাকাল। নিজের সৌন্দর্য দেখে তিনি খুব আনন্দিত হলেন।
তাকে দেখতে সুন্দর ময়ূরের মতো লাগছিল। নাচতে আর গাইতে লাগলেন। তিনি সিদ্ধান্ত নিলেন যে তিনি আর কুৎসিত কাকের সাথে থাকবেন না। তিনি ভাবলেন, ময়ূরদের সঙ্গে তার বসবাস করা উচিত। কিন্তু ‘কালো আর কোনো আভা নেবে না’।
কাকের শরীর সুন্দর হলেও তার আচরণে কোনো পরিবর্তন হয়নি। তিনি ময়ূরদের সাথে তাল মেলাতে পারছিলেন না। শীঘ্রই ময়ূররা জানতে পারল যে সে ময়ূরের ছদ্মবেশে একটি কাক মাত্র। তখন জঙ্গলের সব ময়ূর জড়ো হয়ে মিথ্যা ময়ূরকে আক্রমণ করে।
তারা সমস্ত পালক টেনে বের করে কাকটিকে তাড়িয়ে দিল। কাক তার অহংকারের জন্য যথেষ্ট শাস্তি পেয়েছিল। অসহায় হয়ে পড়েন তিনি। আর কোন উপায় না পেয়ে সে কাকের কাছে ফিরে গেল।
দুর্ভাগ্যক্রমে, কাকরা তাকে গ্রহণ করেনি। তারাও তাকে ছেড়ে চলে যায়। অবশেষে কাক তার দোষ বুঝতে পারল। অবশেষে তিনি নিজেই ভাবলেন, ‘অতি উচ্চাকাঙ্ক্ষা আর অহংকার ভালো নয়।
