Habib became upset. He asked the checker whether he was going to wrong direction. The Checker replied that Habib was going to the wrong direction by a wrong train. Hearing this, Habib became helpless. A kind of panic seized him. He turned pale. He was at a loss what to do. He could not speak and became silent.
He was about to cry. The ticket checker became astonished to see Habib’s behavior. It seemed to him that Habib might be an autistic or disabled boy. He asked Habib where his home district was. Habib replied that his home district was Jessore. The ticket checker smiled because his home district was the same. Naturally, he became sympathetic towards Habib.
The checker again asked how Habib was in a wrong train. Habib answered that it was his first train journey. Seeing the first train he got into it with other passengers. He did not see even the name of the train. Hearing all these, the ticket checker gave him some money instead of charging fine.
At the next station, both of them got down from the train. The checker helped Habib buy a ticket for his destination and instructed him how he would go. Habib thanked the checker. After a while, his train came and he got on it. He reached his destination safely.

এটি ছিল হাবিবের ট্রেনে প্রথম যাত্রা। গ্রীষ্মের ছুটি কাটাতে সে তার মামার বাড়ি যাচ্ছিল। কিছুক্ষণ পর ট্রেন চলতে শুরু করে। টিকিট চেকার কাছে এসে বলল যে সে ভুল ট্রেনে ছিল……
হাবিবের মন খারাপ হয়ে গেল। তিনি চেকারকে জিজ্ঞাসা করলেন যে তিনি ভুল দিকে যাচ্ছেন কিনা। চেকার জবাব দিল যে হাবিব ভুল ট্রেনে ভুল পথে যাচ্ছিল। একথা শুনে অসহায় হয়ে পড়েন হাবিব। এক ধরনের আতঙ্ক তাকে গ্রাস করেছে। সে ফ্যাকাশে হয়ে গেল। কি করা যায় তার একটা লোকসান ছিল।
কথা বলতে না পেরে চুপ হয়ে গেল। সে কাঁদতে বসেছিল। টিকিট চেকার হাবিবের আচরণ দেখে চমকে উঠলেন। তার কাছে মনে হলো হাবিব হয়তো অটিস্টিক বা প্রতিবন্ধী ছেলে। তিনি হাবিবকে জিজ্ঞেস করলেন তার নিজ জেলা কোথায়। উত্তরে হাবিব বলেন, তার বাড়ি যশোর। টিকিট চেকার হাসলেন কারণ তার নিজ জেলা একই। স্বাভাবিকভাবেই তিনি হাবিবের প্রতি সহানুভূতিশীল হয়ে ওঠেন।
চেকার আবার জিজ্ঞেস করলেন হাবিব কিভাবে ভুল ট্রেনে ছিল। উত্তরে হাবিব বলেন, এটাই তার প্রথম ট্রেন যাত্রা। প্রথম ট্রেনটি দেখে অন্য যাত্রীদের সঙ্গে তিনিও উঠে যান। ট্রেনের নাম পর্যন্ত তিনি দেখতে পাননি। সব শুনে টিকিট চেকার তাকে জরিমানা না করে কিছু টাকা দেন।
পরের স্টেশনে দুজনেই ট্রেন থেকে নেমে পড়ল। চেকার হাবিবকে তার গন্তব্যের জন্য একটি টিকিট কিনতে সাহায্য করেছিল এবং তাকে নির্দেশ দেয় যে সে কীভাবে যাবে। হাবিব চেকারকে ধন্যবাদ জানান। কিছুক্ষণ পর তার ট্রেন এলো এবং সে তাতে উঠলো। নিরাপদে গন্তব্যে পৌঁছেছেন।
